The recipient of a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Oregon and master’s degree in education from Dominican University of California, Damien Hansen began his career working at Dominican in enrollment management, where he was quickly promoted to Assistant Director of Admission. After three years of recruitment, Damien was promoted into Student Life as the Director of Housing. In that capacity, Damien Hansen managed a departmental budget of $1.4 million, directed all operations in the residence halls, and expertly supervised a staff of 17 in the development of inclusive living-learning communities.

Damien Hansen began his military career as an Intelligence Analyst and the Operations Team Leader with the United States Navy's Pacific Fleet Intelligence Unit 0419 in Dublin, California. In 2009, he was hand-selected by the Commander as an Air Wing Intelligence Instructor at the Naval Strike & Air Warfare Center in Fallon, Nevada, where he held positions such as Operations Department Head and Administration Department Head for several years. As the top-performing Lieutenant in his unit, he was awarded additional leadership duties as the Officer In Charge of seven air wing detachments. In December 2013, the Secretary of the Navy awarded Lieutenant Hansen the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for sustained superior leadership and dedication to service.

Currently, Damien Hansen works as an Office Manager at the University of San Francisco's Santa Rosa Campus, an assignment that allowed him to more aggressively pursue the completion of his PhD in business administration with an emphasis in homeland security. In addition to his regular administrative duties at USF, Damien has also orchestrated an instrumental campus-wide IT infrastructure upgrade project and spearheaded the effort to provide administrative space to displaced faculty and staff from Cardinal Newman High School in the wake of the North Bay fires of October 2017. He also provides regular technology training and support to USF faculty members. In addition to his professional and educational pursuits, he is a longstanding member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 55 and a Registered Disaster Service Worker in both Marin and San Francisco Counties. Dr. Hansen also proudly serves as a PTA member at his son's elementary school.

One of Damien's proudest accomplishments was being honored as the Marin County Volunteer of the Year by the Volunteer Center of Marin in 1994. Damien Hansen's leadership and commitment to service were recognized as he volunteered countless hours in his local community. Damien tutored and mentored an orphaned boy living with his elderly grandfather and provided regular child care for a struggling single mother. Damien also coached CYO basketball for four years at Saint Raphael school in San Rafael and volunteered tirelessly at the Polly Klaas Center in Petaluma during and after the search for the missing 12-year-old. Damien was moved by the way the local citizens galvanized around the search effort for Polly and fell in love with the city of Petaluma, where he has lived with his family since 2010.
